Some happiness might be called “fog happiness.” Fog surrounds you and transforms the atmosphere, but when you try to examine it, it vanishes. Fog happiness is the kind of happiness you get from activities that, examined closely, don’t really seem to bring much happiness — yet somehow they do. Throwing a party. Giving a performance. Organizing a community event. These activities may bring dread, anxiety, irritation, and time pressure — yet they bring happiness, too.
